Diamond Stars Baseball
Diamond Stars Baseball was started by Tommy Smith.  Tommy grew up
in Albemarle, N.C. and attended N.C. State University.  He was a fleet footed
outfielder and high average hitter when he was drafted in the 5th round by
the Cleveland Indians.  Tommy went on to spend 8 years in professional
baseball and 4 plus years in the Major Leagues with the Indians and
Mariners.  After his playing days were finished, Tommy made his home in
Raleigh, N.C. where he began giving private instruction and running camps
state wide.  He named his instructional program:
Diamond Stars Baseball.  
For the past 26 years, Tommy has been providing players with the
knowledge, advice, and confidence needed to become the best players
possible.

Carley Milinichik came through the Diamond Stars program.  She attended
Apex High School where she named Tri-Seven Conference Player-of-the-Year
her senior season.  She went on to UNC-Wilmington and shattered many
single season and career offensive records for the Seahawks.  

2006-07:  CAA Co-Player of the Year
            Ranked toughest to strike out in the
NATION (3 Ks in 172 at-bats)
            Single season records in slugging %, HR (18) and total bases (139)

2009:       Finished career with school records for HR (45), slugging % (.660),   
                and total bases (376)

Matt Zeblo started in the Diamond Stars program in the 8th grade.  He
attended Broughton High School and posted a stellar career.  Matt went on
to Belmont University in Tennessee where he caught and played OF.  He
has worked the Diamond Stars Summer Training Camps for the past 4 years
and been involved in the Inside Recruit program.  

2008:  Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team

2009:  Hit .335 and .417 with RISP

Posted a career average of .313 and had more BB (121) than K (105)

Earl Synder was drafted by the New York Mets in 1998
from Hartford.  He spent 10 years in professional baseball
and spent time in the MLB with the Cleveland Indians and
Boston Red Sox.  
Earl was one of the most consistent power hitters during his
career.  He smashed 220 HR and drove in 771 RBIs during
his career.  He had 8 consecutive years of 20 or more HR.  
For the Paw Sox in 2005 he hite 36 HR in a single season.

Jason Roach met Tommy Smith in 1988 at a baseball camp when he was
11 years old.  Jason grew up in Kinston, N.C. and attended the University of
North Carolina at Wilmington and was drafted by the New York Mets in the
20th round as a third baseman.  After hitting for 3 seasons in the minor
leagues, Jason was converted to a pitcher.  He went on to pitch 8 more
seasons and make it to the Major Leagues in 2003 with the Mets.  Jason has
been doing private instruction for 14 years with
Diamond Stars Baseball.

Paige Brantley attended high school at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School
where she was named the CAP-8 Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006. She
attended Mars Hill College (located in Asheville, NC) where she pitched for the
Division II Lions. She currently holds numerous school pitching records for
single season and career ERA, saves, and wins. During her NCAA career, she
was ranked amongst the leaders in the National Rankings for NCAA Division II
Softball for ERA (26th - 1.32) and saves (3rd - 13). Paige is head varsity
coach at Heritage High School in Wake Forest.
